Magnets 3

I collect greeting cards. These include those received from my husband and children over the years – they are in a big box and every once in a while I look at them and smile. But I never throw away my Christmas or Holiday cards! This year’s cards become next year’s decorations with recycled Christmas cards.

During the week between Christmas and New Years I turn all the wonderful scenes and even photos from the cards I’ve received into magnets. At Christmas time I use the magnets to decorate by tucking them inside newly received cards and hanging them on my metal front door inside and out for a festive greeting to visitors.

Our refrigerator becomes Christmas picture central with the colorful magnets keeping our favorites in place. I’ve also given these as hostess gifts when people visit.

This is a great project for kids who want to give a homemade gift to Grandma or their teachers and friends.

Cards ready to cut

I start by choosing cards with bright colors and festive scenes or patterns. I buy a set of business card magnets which can be found at most office supply stores or for a better price through Amazon.

You simply cut out a pattern or picture a little larger than the magnet, pull the paper from the magnet to reveal the sticky side and carefully line up your pic to the magnet. Then trim the edges as needed.

Family picture

You can even add a cute picture of your family to one of the card cutouts or just a picture on it’s own (see Santa Claus in the first pic of the post!).

Please post your magnet creations in the comments! I would love to see what you do!

Have Fun and Happy New Year!

Just love your snowman image! He is so darn cute. I have a vintage card ball that my hubby’s aunt made and gave to use and I hang it every year…just LOVE it.
