A couple of years ago I saw the most amazing thing! Flower paper. I was looking through a marketing pamphlet and the pages were made with flower seeds in it. If you plant the pages, flowers will bloom in a few short weeks.
This idea is pretty neat, plus it’s a great way to help save the planet. I thought flower paper would be a wonderful gift for friends to celebrate the arrival of spring. Even if some of your friends don’t have a green thumb, they will love planting the paper just to see if it really works.
Making flower paper is a fairly simple process and it comes out beautifully. Enjoy!
What You Need
- 2 Sheets of Printing Paper (Any colors you choose)
- 2 Packs Flower Seeds (Perennial Flowers|Annual Flowers)
- Dried Flower Petals (Flower Petals)
- Lavender Leaves (Lavender)
- Metal Sifter
- Twine (Cotton Twine)
Instructions on How to Plant the Paper
Tear paper into quarter size pieces and place in food processor. Add ¼ cup of water and blend on low speed. Continue blending and adding small amounts of water until mixture turns into pulp.
Place pulp in sifter and press down until as much water a possible is squeezed out.
In a medium bowl, mix flower seeds, flower petals, and lavender leaves.
Take a small ball of the mixture and press into the sifter to shape it into a 2-inch circular shape. Carefully poke a hole in the wet paper. Allow the paper to dry overnight on a cooling rack.
Using a hole puncher, place a hole at the top of the instructions for planting the paper.
Tie a piece of twine through the hole in the instructions and tie the other end through the flower paper.
