This is a true Southern favorite. This recipe is so simple and easy and best of all you make it in the crock pot. Perfect for the hot weather we have been having this summer. Dinner done when you get home and no more slaving over a hot stove, oven or standing outside grilling.

Pair it with your favorite corn bread or baking powder biscuit and you have the perfect Southern dinner!


2 small onions, chopped
2 pounds cooked chicken (I use breast meat), chopped into pieces
1 1/2 cups diced cooked ham
1 can (14.5 ounce) diced tomatoes
3 cups chicken broth
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon dry thyme, crushed
1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce (we love Texas Pete)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups frozen shoe-peg corn
2 cups frozen baby lima beans

In a 4 quart slow cooker/crock pot place onion, chicken and ham.  In a small bowl combine tomatoes (do not drain), broth, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, thyme, black pepper and the hot sauce, Mix and pour over chicken/ham/onion. Add frozen vegetables. Cover and cook on low heat setting for 6 hours.

Serves approximately 8.
