A chicken grilled on a can of beer!
- 1 whole 3-4 lb chicken
- 1/2 can Beer
- 3 Olive oil
- 1 stick Salted butter
The rest I didn’t measure, but you get the idea:
I used about a teaspoon (maybe a little more) of each – all dried BTW:
- Lemon Pepper
- Seasoned salt – I’m sure I used a tablespoon or more
Get it ready:
The grill needs to be prepared for indirect heat on medium high. This means that it will cook beside the flames, not directly over them. So, for example, if you’re using a gas grill heat only one side of the burners.
In a small bowl, combine the olive oil and all seasonings. You will have to use your hands for this – rub the mixture all over the chicken, getting under the skin as much as you can. Use it all!
Lower the chicken, with the cavity side down, onto the beer can. Place on the side of the grill that isn’t over direct heat. Cover, but try not to open it. I do check mine after about an hour, but it’s best to mostly leave it alone.
Melt the stick of butter in the microwave. After about an hour, quickly open the grill and evenly pour the butter over the chicken, then close the grill cover.
It should be done after about 1 – 1/2 hours or until breast meat registers 180 on a meat thermometer.
