Lemons Are Yummy

It’s a Twist on Lemonade! When life hands you lemons take them willingly and make your own delicious, and unique, refreshment!

Start with this classic Lemonade Recipe:

Make a syrup by combining 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is dissolved.  Let cool. In a pitcher combine the syrup with 2 cups fresh lemon juice (from 10 – 12 lemons) and add 5 – 6 cups water.  Pour over ice.  Serves 8.

Pitcher of Fresh Lemonade is refreshing!

This is so good that I couldn’t help myself – before I could snap a picture of my lovely lemonade, I started drinking it! By the way, I found this amazing glass pitcher at Target for only $12.99!

Try this refreshing and beautiful red Tea and Mint Lemonade.

Fresh Mint and Tea

Steep 4 bags hibiscus (I used what I had on hand, which was pomegranate) tea and mint in 2 cups boiling water and gently mash the mint.  Let cool.  Discard the tea bags and mint.  In a pitcher combine the tea and lemonade, pour over ice and garnish with mint leaves.  Serves 4

Tea and Lemonade

If you like a little pizazz with your lemonade, you’ll love the Spicy Shandy!  It starts with a great, icy-cold lager and Sam Adams is always a favorite.

Boston Lager

In a pitcher combine the beer and 1/2 cup lemonade. Moisten the rim of two glasses with simple syrup (preferred) or water, dip in a mix of 1 Tablespoon kosher salt and 1/4 teaspoon cayenne. Serves 2 – easy to double for 4.  Oh so refreshing!

If classic is more your style try the Thyme and Lime Lemonade.

Lime and thyme

In a pitcher mash 10 fresh thyme sprigs with 1/4 cup fresh lime juice. Add the lemonade and refrigerate for at least an hour (up to a day).  Strain the drink (to remove the steeped thyme) and then add 3/4 cup vodka (gin would be work well too).  Serve over ice and garnish with thyme sprigs.  So delicious. Serves 4.

These all look great! Yesterday my man was talking about how he wanted to make iced tea lemonade. I was trying to convince him we should use limes because we have lots of them and no lemons. This post is a super timely find for me!

  3. My neighbor has a prolific lemon tree that spreads over into my back yard. I keep simple syrup in my frig at all times, but why oh why did I not think of using thyme? My other neighbor even gave a me a pot when he thinned out his herb garden. Thanks for the great idea.
