Since I was a kid, I have never been a big fan of “leftovers.” Some things should never be eaten more than once a week!! But looking back on 2011, there are several different trends and styles that I adore, and we are sure to see more of in 2012. These are the kind of “leftovers” I could indulge in again and again!
Here are my 3 personal favorite 2011 style leftovers:
THAT 70’S SHOW
I love all things “70’s” and there were plenty of “70’s” inspired looks in 2011.
Some of my favorites were mid length skirts, head scarfs, round sunglasses, and chunky platform shoes. (oh how I love a chunky shoe!) Such effortless styles, yet so chic. I love the glamorous look of wide leg pants and flowing tops. They are classy and flattering on any shape. Longer hemlines and wider pant legs will definitely be in all the stores and on the runway this year.
2011 also introduced a lot of over-sized baggy tops.
Paired up with leggings or skinny jeans keeps the look youthful and on trend rather than sloppy or frumpy. Any time you have a lot of volume on top, you should keep it slim on bottom. Too much on both top and bottom creates a very sloppy, boxy look that isn’t flattering on anyone! I have seen lots of over-sized “of the shoulder” over-sized cowl neck knits for spring.
LOOK OVER YOUR SHOULDER HONEY!
It seems I can’t get enough purses and bags in my life and one great bag trend last year are the side satchels.
Great for everyday errands and life! Throw it over your shoulder to keep your hands free to do all the little things you do! My 2 favorite purchase of the entire year are 2 different satchels. Both from KATE SPADE (my favorite purse designer and the reason I will die broke) they are both small and lightweight.
I hate to carry a heavy purse on my shoulder…not good for the back. (I am more than willing to sacrifice comfort for style…but not for back pain!) There are some adorable satchels available in stores right now like OLD NAVY, H & M, and FOREVER 21. They are so cute…and they won’t break your budget!
So hang on to these pieces you purchased in 2011…because they are still looking fresh for 2012!
